Position Summary:
The Biomedical Equipment Specialist (BES) will be responsible for overseeing the management of equipment utilized for organ, eye, and tissue donation. The BES will be responsible for purchasing, installation, calibration, preventative maintenance, and assessment of equipment life cycle.
The BES will coordinate the maintenance program for the biomedical equipment in collaboration with Operations to ensure equipment is functioning at optimal performance. The BES will ensure that Central Supply Operations and Policy and Procedures relating to the functions described below are compliant with all regulatory requirements. Performs all duties and responsibilities in compliance with policies and procedures, regulations as outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations, and other applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions:
Equipment Management Plan
1. Document equipment management plan for each piece of equipment used in organ, eye, and tissue recovery.
2. Incoming new equipment – responsible for inspection, function testing following manufacturer’s specifications.
3. Test or calibrate components or equipment, following manufacturers' manuals and troubleshooting techniques, using hand tools, power tools, or measuring devices.
4. Keep records of maintenance, repair, and required updates of equipment. Coordinates daily monitoring of all equipment including but not limited to freezers, autoclaves, refrigerators, centrifuges, ventilators, CT scanner, x-ray machine, and documenting appropriately when required.
5. Test, evaluate, and classify excess or in-use medical equipment and determine serviceability, condition, and disposition, in accordance with regulations.

The Biomedical Equipment Specialist is frequently required to travel by personal auto or air to meeting sites and other locations.
Work Hours:
Performs a forty-hour workweek as determined by assigned shift. Assigned days and/or shift can be changed according to staffing needs. Must be available evenings, holidays, and weekends as required.
Education:
Associates Degree from a two year college or equivalent training in an affiliated health field required.
Experience:
A minimum of two years experience in equipment maintenance is required.
Certification/License:
OneLegacy requires employees to maintain a current California driver’s license and current vehicle insurance based on California minimum insurance coverage standards.
Requirement:
Employee must be able to pass a local government agency (coroner’s office) background check.
Equipment:
Reliable automotive transportation required.
