The Post-Doctoral Fellow in Clinical Psychology will join the staff of The Claremont Autism Center at Claremont McKenna College. Primary responsibilities will involve provision of clinical care for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families under the supervision of the Director, Professor Rachel Fenning. The Fellow will also engage in Professor Fenning’s research group, and will assist in the supervision of undergraduate and graduate students involved in research and clinical activities at The Claremont Autism Center.

As a member of The Claremont Autism Center’s assessment and evaluation clinic, the Fellow will perform comprehensive psychological assessments, with an emphasis on diagnostic assessments for ASD, related neurodevelopmental disorders, and co-occurring conditions. The Fellow will also be involved in delivering evidence-based intervention, including social skills and recreational programming for children and teens on the autism spectrum, and parent training for families of children with ASD and behavioral difficulties. In addition, the Fellow will assist with clinic management and will maintain appropriate documentation of clinical services.

Research responsibilities will include oversite of data collection and data management at The Claremont Autism Center. The Fellow will prepare research findings for presentation and publication, and will support graduate and undergraduate student research projects. Depending upon interest and expertise, the Fellow may also have the opportunity to guest lecture in undergraduate courses affiliated with The Claremont Autism Center and to assist in the development of new clinic initiatives and services.

This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal for one to four years.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work closely with the Center Director and staff in providing clinical care for individuals with autism spectrum and their families.
• Under the supervision of the Director, provide psychological assessment and intervention services, and generate timely and appropriate clinical billing and documentation.
• Attend weekly individual supervision with the Center Director.
• Attend clinic meetings with the Center Director, staff, and students.
• Assist in supervising graduate and undergraduate students in clinical and research activities.
• Provide administrative and operational support for the Center, including appointment scheduling, clinical billing, and management of the clinic waitlist and research participation pool.
• Facilitate communication with prospective clients and research participants.
• Participate in scholarly projects and engage in leading and co-authoring research presentations and papers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: A Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, with training in assessment and intervention for autism spectrum disorder, is required. Doctoral degree must be conferred within two months of position start date.

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two or more years of clinical and research experience in the autism field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Established research reliability in the administration and scoring of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2 (ADOS-2).
• Experience delivering group social skills intervention to children and teens with ASD.
• Experience providing behavioral parent training to families of children with ASD.
• A background in autism research, including prior experience in the study of autonomic psychophysiology.

LICENSES: A valid driver’s license or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events is required. License eligibility as a psychologist in California is a requirement of this position.

• Demonstrate understanding of, and appropriate adherence to, clinical and research ethics and codes of conduct.
• Knowledgeable of psychological assessments and intervention for ASD.
• Ability to assess and evaluate ASD, related neurodevelopment disorders, and co-occurring conditions.
• Ability to deliver appropriate and effective intervention and support for individuals with ASD and other neurodevelopment disorders.
• Ability to attend to detail, multi-task, and use effective time management, planning, and organizational skills to perform responsibilities accurately and to meet expected deadlines. 
• Ability to cultivate an inclusive environment, including a commitment to mentoring students and supporting clients representing a broad range of socioeconomic backgrounds, political opinions, genders, races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, religions, and developmental and behavioral functioning.
• Ability to follow instructions and to delegate appropriate tasks effectively.

START DATE: We are looking to fill this position immediately, with a start date no later than 8/19/2024.

HOURS: The regular hours for this position will be eight-hour days with a work schedule of approximate 40-hours per week. This position requires flexibility and availability to work late afternoons and evenings as needed. Some weekends may be required. Travel to conferences

may be required. Regular hours may vary due to needs of The Claremont Autism Center.

CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS: This is a regular full-time, 12-month year-round, benefits-eligible position. This position is classified as an exempt level, salaried position.

APPROXIMATE SALARY RANGE: $67,000 - $68,000 PER YEAR
