Job Abstract

The Dosimetrist is primarily responsible for directing the course of radiation therapy treatment.

Responsibilities include:

Obtaining and analyzing the appropriate information needed to draft effective therapy plans
Communicating with the radiation and entire oncology team to successfully implement treatment plans and perform follow up therapy as needed
Assisting in radiation therapy
Using specialized medical equipment to locate tumors, including MRIs, CT and PET scans
Setting up medical equipment and providing image guidance to physicians and offering technical support as needed.
Verifying all mathematical calculations are correct using appropriate tools while drafting treatment plans
Educating themselves and colleagues by attending workshops and following current research projects, as well as helping create new techniques and devices to assist them
Working with the Medical Physicist and Radiation Oncologist on treatment planning computers to perform operations and quality assurance measures
