: Provides code-authorized health services based on student need and/or assist school nurse as defined in the “Guidelines and Procedures for Meeting Specialized Health Care of Pupils,” including but not limited to: Suctioning, mechanical ventilators and mechanical nebulizers, catheterization, gavage feeding; monitors and assists students in a variety of self-help act ivies, including dressing, feeding, toileting, and diapering; aids and assists students who experience toileting accidents and who have limited control of body functions; performs routine first aid functions which may include emergency treatment of students experiencing seizures or respiratory problems; assists students with braces and learning aids, which may include limb manipulation, body movement, stretching and swimming instruction; lifts and moves students who may need assistance; assists instructional and therapy personnel with planning, organization and conduct of instructional, training and therapy activities with students experiencing various physical and learning handicaps; works with individual student to reinforce and follow up learning and training activities; performs a variety of routine clerical functions; may participate in parent conferences, as requested; performs related work as required; support to Autistic Students.
Requirements / Qualifications
The Baldwin Park Unified School District is recruiting for an Instructional Assistant - Specialized Health. Under the direction of a Special Education Teacher, credentialed school nurse, or other certificated employee. The employee will perform a variety of functions and activities pertaining to the care, instruction and training of individuals needing specialized health care. The employee will assist in meeting special needs, which may include feeding, toileting, positioning, monitoring health conditions of medically involved students. The employee will also assist in implementing the instructional program for students with special needs, relieve the teacher of routine clerical duties, and perform other duties as required.

The selection process tentatively consists of the District application review, pass the District instructional proficiency exam, and interviews. The Human Resources Department will contact all applicants once the selection process has been finalized.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Successful completion of the District instructional aide examination or completion of at least two years of study at an institution of higher education or an associate’s degree or higher.
Experience:
Experience working with students with disabilities.
REQUIRED LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES
Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate issued by an authorized agency.
