The Yale College Dean’s Office seeks a student-centered, highly motivated, and equity-minded professional to take lead on the implementation of programs and services as well as the ongoing advocacy for and management of resources that affirm the diverse needs of Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) students. The Assistant Director will help develop and execute a strategic plan, design and implement programs, evaluation and reporting, as well as provide general management of a dedicated community space to ensure MENA student needs are met. The Assistant Director will also collaborate with campus and community partners to support the missions of the Yale College Deans Office, and Yale University. This position requires energy, strong organizational and leadership skills, experience in creating and implementing culturally-affirming programming and intercultural education for the university community. The position also requires effective communication skills to form critical collaborations across divisions and with faculty, staff and community partners to manage and advocate for students’ needs and concerns.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Work with the Asian American Cultural Center Director in strategic planning, financial management, program assessment and departmental reporting.
2. Provide day-to-day management of the dedicated community space including the hiring, supervision, development and evaluation of student staff (likely comprised of graduate and undergraduate students).
3. Serve as the primary point of contact for the students as they establish and coordinate logistics for signature programs and annual traditions (e.g. Staff training and retreats, First-Year Orientation, Family Weekend, heritage week/month, academic programs, Bulldog Days and Commencement activities).
4. Provide advising and administrative support for various MENA student leaders and organizations (i.e. purchasing, processing expense reports, invoices and contracts)
5. Curate opportunities for MENA students to engage in intra-community buildings and intersectional identity development.
6. Serve as an advocate for the MENA community and campus community in the areas of intercultural education and diversity.
7. Work collaboratively with the other cultural centers and campus resources to create a culturally inclusive environment across the university.
8. Responsible for overseeing overall programming and aligning it with Yale College's strategic plan and the University's mission.
9. Manage relationships with faculty, area studies councils, academic departments and programs, to formulate student support and mentoring services and academically geared programming; and other needs as determined by the Dean.
10. Build out student-alumni programs, and provide support for annual reunions and special events for alumni as needed.
11. Liaise with facilities to maintain current MENA community space and provide guidance throughout the build out of new space in 305 Crown.
12. Provide support as needed to other Centers, University initiatives, and departments, including crisis management.

Manage relationships with faculty, area studies councils, academic departments and programs to further the academic mission of the Cultural Center, formulate student support and mentoring services and academically geared programming; and other needs as determined by the Dean.8. Build upon existing student-alumni programs of the Center, provide support for annual reunions and special events for alumni.9. Liaise with facilities, and provide logistical support for the Center’s operations and Dean.10. Provide support as needed to other Centers, University initiatives, and departments, including crisis management. 11. Other duties as assigned. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
