The HR Generalist plays a crucial role partnering with managers to provide HR guidance including performance management, employee relations, and culture. This role is heavily involved in designing corporate initiatives and driving programs such as performance reviews, demographic and turnover reporting, and ensuring compliance with employment regulations. The HR Generalist assess and anticipates HR-related needs and partners with the HR Ops team to put solutions into place.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and partnership to leaders on a variety of HR processes and philosophies including performance management, employment compliance and compensation.
- Answer team member questions, resolving problems and redirecting team members as needed to the appropriate HR center of excellence.
- Ensure compliance with all regulations, including completing required government reporting, such as AAP, EEO-1, Vets-4212.
- Stay up to date on compliance laws impacting the company at the federal (DOL, OFCCP, etc), state, and local level. May include countries outside of the US.
- Maintain the Team Member Handbook and HR Operations policies, including proposing and drafting new policies as necessary.
- Educate, train, and create tools for managers to help them effectively manage performance, conflict, and reinforce Haskell’s culture.
- Investigate/research employee relation issues and guide managers through performance coaching and performance improvement plans.
- Participate in developing department goals and objectives and provides recommendations for best practices.
- Create, analyze and interpret HR reports such as turnover reports, demographic reports, and one-off requests and translate data into next step recommendations for leaders.
- Perform other duties and assigned projects as needed.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or related field
- 5-10 years of related experience required
- Employee relations/performance management experience required
Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications Etc.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to maintain confidential information
- Knowledge of Microsoft excel, include VLOOK-UP, Pivot tables, split cells, filter, and other basic formulas
- Uses initiative and excellent attention to detail
- Highly organized and ability to track multiple tasks
- Skilled in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws, with the ability to effectively conduct research where necessary. Experience outside of the US a plus.
- Ability to synthesis information and make recommendations efficiently
- Tendency to continuously seek improvement and look for opportunities to improve processes and programs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
