ABOUT THIS ROLE: This work for this position will focus on two major client groups. The first is children and families moving from foster placements to permanency and adoption. The second is children relocating to our community through the Interstate Compact on Placement of Children (ICPC) program. Your responsibilities will include: Assessing families for possible foster placements and/or adoptive/permanent placements; analyzing risk and ensuring safety of children and families, providing ongoing oversight of children in their placements, assisting families with preparing for and achieving permanent placements, partnering with other states’ agencies to find appropriate local placements, communicating with stakeholders about the welfare of children, interpreting policies and procedures; maintaining current and accurate case records; preparing court documents and attending court. The Prince William Department of Social Services staff of over 480, serve the community through adult and child-welfare programs, public benefits distribution, and homeless prevention services. We annually serve over 100,000 people with the goal of creating self-sufficiency and economic stability. MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in the human services field; or bachelor’s degree in any field accompanied by a minimum of two years appropriate and related experience in a human services related area.

Experience engaging and assessing family strengths and needs to provide appropriate services.
Experience interpreting and applying policies and procedures in crisis situations.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: Monday-Friday 37.50hrs/wk. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment background check. All Social Services staff members are required to provide emergency human services work in the event of an emergency or disaster.
