Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
- The Patient Care Technician (PCT) has primary responsibility of assisting with cleaning and turnover of mammogram, ultrasound rooms and procedure rooms, as well as patient sub-weighting areas. Assumes support responsibility for proper storage of equipment and restocking of supplies as required; checks supplies for outdates. The PCT has some basic nursing skills, including vital signs, and patient safety. The PCT performs support functions for the breast center staff, to include basic clerical functions, supply ordering and maintenance of a tidy patient care and desk area.

- Education
- Licensure/Certification
  - Required: American Heart Association BLS
- Experience
  - Preferred: Experience in clinical setting
Essential Responsibilities
- Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
- Accurately obtains vital signs (TPR, BP and pain level), height, weight, pulse oximeter, documents and communicates abnormals and changes to RN.
- Assists with set up and turnover of exam rooms when appropriate.
- Provides safe patient environment at all times ie. Stays with patient who may be in danger of falling or hurting himself. Correctly identifies patient by use of armband. Call bell within reach and secured to gurney.
- Communicates observations of patient condition changes to RN.
- Communicates with Manager, Lead Mammography Technologist/co-workers prior to breaks and lunches to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintains general tidiness of patient care area and unit; responsible for room turnover of Mammography, Ultrasound and Procedure rooms: cleaning and restocking patient sub waiting areas.
- Maintains supply par levels in department.
- Performs basic clerical duties.
- Performs basic order entry, data entry and retrieval, and patient charges.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
