Job Summary/Basic Function
This position will enhance the competitive performance of intercollegiate student-athletes and reduce injury risk by implementing strength and conditioning programs designed specifically toward the physical demands connected to each of the college’s intercollegiate athletic programs. The position will be responsible for the development of policies and protocols that ensure a safe and effective working environment in the varsity strength facility through inspection of all equipment, appropriately setting up the facility and monitoring each team’s training sessions, when staffing permits. This quality working environment will be expected to promote wellness, excellence and growth while staying compliant with NCAA and Centennial Conference rules.
Essential Functions:
Design and implement strength and conditioning programs to meet the specific training needs of the college’s twenty-five intercollegiate athletic programs. Instruct in both group and individual settings the proper technique needed to execute each exercise and activity included in the training programs. Modify and adjust programs to meet the needs of the student-athletes participating in each program.
Collaborate with coaches to orient them with programming that is specific to their team, and conduct regular reviews and assessments. Collaborate with sports medicine staff concerning prevention of injuries and rehabilitation needs.
Oversee additional department staff whose secondary duty deals with assisting with strength and conditioning.
Oversee the purchase of strength and cardio training equipment for the department. Maintain strength and cardio conditioning equipment in the Durden Athletic Training Center and the Kline Fitness Center. Schedule the use of the Durden Center facility by our athletic programs.
