PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Under direct supervision of the Site Administrator or designee, the Dance Teacher will be responsible for teaching and training students in a range of: techniques, dance styles, genres, and choreography while ensuring that all students are: engaged, motivated, and inspired to achieve their goals as dancers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate dance instruction in all pertinent dance styles including, but not limited to, jazz, ballet, contemporary, hip hop, and lyrical dance;
- develop a dance curriculum that is in alignment with the California Arts Standards for Public Schools; evaluate student performance and make recommendations for improvement;
- choreograph routines for one or more of the following: school performance(s), community performance(s), recital(s), or competition(s);
- provide a fun, creative, and safe learning environment for all students;
- demonstrate knowledge of subject matter;
- abide by professional ethics and standards established by board policies and professional teaching standards.
WORK YEAR:
- 184 days per year (185 days per year for unit members new to the district)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
a. Valid and appropriate Single Subject California Teaching Credential authorizing dance instruction
b. A bachelor's degree in dance, performing arts, education, or a related field
c. CLAD or BCLAD Certification or other English Learner Authorization
d. Must possess a valid driver’s license

EXTRA DUTY COMPENSATION:
- Eligible for any applicable stipends found in Appendix B.
- Extra Duty Pay (with mutual consent of the Site Administrator or designee) found in Appendix B which includes, but is not limited to working additional hours/days beyond 184 (if mutually agreed upon between the Dance Teacher and Site Administrator or designee), etc.

Nuview District Teachers’ Association
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year are governed by the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Nuview District Teachers’ Association. If this position is filled by a unit member who currently works in the district, the unit member realizes that if this position is not offered in a subsequent school year, the unit member will be assigned to another position in the district for which they are qualified. The district cannot guarantee that the unit member will move back into the same position or be at the same site if they accept the role of Dance Teacher. The Dance Teacher shall not be selected and assigned as administrative designee (if applicable) on a more frequent basis than any other qualified unit member that is on the annual Principal’s list of Administrative Designees.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Collective
Bargaining Agreement with the Nuview District Teachers’ Association and the Nuview School District and the Board Policy on Evaluation of Certificated Personnel.
