Join Our Team: Community Development Specialist Needed!

Are you organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about community development? We’re looking for a Community Development Specialist to provide vital support to our Building and Planning Department. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is eager to assist both professionals and the public in shaping the future of our city.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform clerical and technical tasks to support field and office operations.
• Update and maintain maps, zoning records, and land use files.
• Record and prepare minutes for meetings, and assist in preparing staff reports.
• Collect and analyze data related to the city’s physical, social, and economic aspects.
• Serve as the primary contact for building permit applications, guiding the public through the process.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in English and modern office procedures.
• Ability to operate computer equipment and manage records effectively.
• Knowledge of building construction terminology and local, state, and federal codes.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
• Requires possession of International Code Council
  (ICC) Permit Technician Certificate within one year of appointment.
• Two years of responsible secretarial and clerical experience.
• Valid California Driver's License.
• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialty training in planning or building is preferred.
