RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and provide an atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for artistic and intellectual growth.
Integrate the arts into the classroom and content areas via dance, music, theatre and/or visual arts in order to support and sustain arts for all students in the PK through 8th grade levels and build sustainability for the pathway to secondary arts programs.
Establishes and (as necessary) adjusts instructional goals and objectives, to reflect district/school goals, curriculum policies, and the knowledge, skills, progress, and needs of one’s students.
Designs lessons that provide opportunities for problem solving, creativity, and communication skills in relation to authentic, real-world problems.
Establishes and maintains standards of behavior that foster student self-discipline and positive relationships among students.
Commits to on-going professional development in content and cross-curricula pedagogy.
Facilitates related performing arts productions and performances
Plans learning activities to address individual differences among students
Develops, administers, and evaluates quality formatives and summative assessments that reflect a balance of content knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving skills
Monitor and evaluate students’ progress in relation to district/school curriculum and policies and other planned goals and objectives
Encourages, secures, and maintains the involvement of parents and other community members in support of theatre education
Involves parents in the assessment of their children’s progress and needs
Performs all other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required certification: Theatre or Drama, grades PK-12 (458) and Music, grades PK-12 (049)
Master’s degree preferred
Three years of successful teaching experience in an urban school district preferred
Experience in the use of educational technology
Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
Salary will be in accordance with the BEA contract salary schedule.
