Who are we looking for?
GHD has an exciting opportunity for a Hydrogeologist/Geological Engineer based out of any of our Southern CA offices. With a strong technical background in environmental assessment and remediation, you will support GHD’s Contamination Assessment and Remediation Service Line in the development of conceptual site models to support the design, implementation, and optimization of effective soil & groundwater remedial solutions for aerospace, chemical and manufacturing, mining, energy, transportation, and other clients. The sites are being managed within the framework of federal and/or state programs (e.g. Superfund, RCRA, and/or State-specific) to address a variety of contaminants including chlorinated volatile organic compounds (VOCs), metals, hydrocarbons, and perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The successful candidate will have extensive geologic/hydrogeologic characterization, statistical data evaluation, and geochemical/groundwater modeling experience, including the technical presentation of key findings to clients, regulators, and project stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Analyzing various types of geochemical, hydrological, hydrogeological, climate, soil, groundwater, and surface water data utilizing a multiple lines of evidence approach
- Developing plans for field data collection and analysis related to drilling, aquifer testing, sampling, etc. to support conceptual site model development, remedy selection, and remedy optimization.
- Preparing technical presentations, work plans, and reports
- Serving as task manager, maintaining task/project budgets and schedules
The ideal candidate would have the following experience/skill set:
- Experience with multiple contamination assessment and remediation projects for a variety of contaminants across multiple geologic/hydrogeologic environments.
- Experience with aquifer testing to support groundwater extraction and injection system design.
- Experience with pilot testing to support soil and groundwater remediation projects.
- Expertise using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with various groundwater modeling platforms such as MODFLOW, MT3D, RT3D, PEST, SEEP/W, and/or HYDRUS.
- Experience with geochemical modeling platforms such as PHREEQC.
- Proven skills in GIS applications.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Must be able to work on multiple assignments simultaneously; and have strong organizational, problem solving, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Experience in developing and managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Experience managing a technical delivery team and mentoring a plus
- Experience with surface water and stormwater modeling platforms: HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HEC-SSP, EPA-SWMM a plus.
- Experience with the mining industry a plus
- Experience with GoldSim simulation software a plus
- Professional Engineer licensure a plus
- Professional Geology licensure a plus
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s and/or Master's degree in Civil, Geological, or Environmental Engineering and/or Hydrogeology/Engineering Geology; degrees in both engineering and geology a plus
- 15+ years of experience of applied knowledge in engineering and hydrogeology
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities to work both within a team and independently
- Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software programs
- Must be able to complete occasional travel, typically planned in advance

Salary Range- $125,000- $186,000 per year based on location and experience
