Conducts accurate and complete cancer case ascertainment according to the requirements of the American College of Surgeons and the State of Ohio. Codes, classifies and indexes stage of disease and treatment information. Runs edits to ensure quality of Registry data. Participates in the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer Co. Conducts accurate and complete cancer case ascertainment according to the requirements of the American College of Surgeons and the State of Ohio. Codes, classifies and indexes stage of disease and treatment information. Runs edits to ensure quality of Registry data. Participates in the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer CoC planning activities and understands CoC standards. Maintains a maximum abstracting delay of 6 months from the date of diagnosis. Maintains case follow up rate of as required per CoC standards 5.3 and 5.4. Assists in the training and mentoring cancer registry employees. Compiles reports based on data in the registry in response to requests from physicians and administration. Advises researchers and clinicians on registry source data details. Coordinates and participates in other registry special projects. Meets department productivity and accuracy standards. Other duties as assigned. Certified Tumor Registrar Required. Associates Degree required, Allied health background preferred. Certified Tumor Registrar CTR by the National Cancer Registrars Association required. Four years of cancer registry, medical records, coding or billing experience required. Excellent knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology required.
