ABOUT THE POSITION:
The teaching assignment may be at the Liberal Arts campus, the Pacific Coast campus or other college teaching locations. The assignment may be day, evening, weekend, online or off campus and is subject to change as needed. Part-time faculty positions are as needed positions and do not accrue rights to tenure. Part-time faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Any Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in the discipline; OR,
- Any Associate degree and six years of experience in the discipline; OR,
- the equivalent AND
Evidence of a sensitivity, understanding, and ability to manage the classroom environment AND effectively provide instruction to community college students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
STANDARD EQUIVALENCY:
- Eighteen (18) units of collegiate level course work to meet general education requirements in three out of five general education areas i.e.: English Composition, Communication and Analytical Thinking, Natural Sciences, Humanities and Arts, and Social Sciences AND a community college certificate in Electricity or Electrical Technology of at least 40 semester units OR
- Completion of a state-approved electrician apprenticeship program OR
- Completion of a state-approved electrician training program of no less than 1000 hours AND Six years work experience as a residential, commercial or industrial electrician. The six years experience may be accrued through any combination of employment in the three specialties.
DESIRED SKILLS:
Certification to teach and certify students in Cable and Wire Harness assembly and inspection per IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards. These courses are where students learn proper cable termination methods, practices and inspection while working under the industry standard IPC/WHMA-A-620. The IPC/WHMA-A-620 standard provides the electronics industry with the most current criteria for the performance and acceptance of cable and wire harness assemblies. Students are prepared for entry level jobs in the aerospace and industrial harness and wiring industries.
