Withum is seeking a Tangible Asset Valuation Associate who are early career professionals with 0 – 3 years of experience to join us in either our East Brunswick, NJ or our Whippany, NJ office location. This position offers the opportunity to work directly in performing appraisals for a diverse client base. This position is perfect for someone adventurous who wants to travel the country and immerse themselves in unique experiences, all while enjoying generous compensation and gaining expertise in a niche industry. The in-office expectation is 3 days per week in the office when not traveling.

How You’ll Spend Your Time:

• Assisting audit, tax, and advisory teams in developing the appropriate scope of work for machinery and equipment valuation engagements
• Analyzing and reviewing physical and financial characteristics of machinery and equipment
• Learning the appraisal business
• Traveling nationwide to perform site visits to collect data on and performing observations of machinery and equipment
• Performing independent appraisals of personal property for estates, financial planning, lending, litigation, financial reporting, and other intended uses
• Assisting audit teams in appraisal reviews of third-party reports and performing independent validation of values and inputs used in audits
• Attending industry and professional society meetings, conferences, marketing, and recruitment events as necessary
• Performing miscellaneous tasks as assigned

The Kinds of People We Want to Talk To:

• Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 0 – 3 years of experience in any appraisal field
• Ability to commute to one of our office locations
• Excellent interpersonal and computer skills
• Excel, Word, and Adobe proficiency
• Ability to travel 75% nationally required
• Required to pursue American Society of Appraisers (ASA) designation in machinery and technical services (MTS)
• Knowledge of Excel preferred
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
