The Project Manager with advanced skills, is responsible for all aspects of the design and construction process for major and significant building projects, or highly specialized and critical components of these projects. Projects are often characterized by their complexity. Exercises independent judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results, and may oversee, manage, supervise, or provide guidance to other Facilities Project Managers and / or Analysts.
Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Infrastructure Programs, the incumbent is accountable for construction management, monitoring construction contract compliance and coordination services in support of the campus departments to ensure the construction phases of projects are on schedule, high-quality, cost-effective, and appropriate to the project needs. This involves all elements of construction management from cost estimating through construction phase closeout including initial estimating, safety compliance, contract compliance, coordination and closeout of large and small projects. The incumbent works with the program managers, senior project managers and project managers to organize, plan, and control the construction efforts on projects in the Building Renewal Program. Also, may be called upon to assist with FIN (Facilites Investment Needs) projects as needed. This involves working with program managers, project managers and facility managers in selecting general contractors and subcontractors, coordinating the activities of multiple general contractors on multiple project sites, construction inspectors, and others associated with the projects; monitoring project progress and quality; resolving problems that arise in the projects; working with state agency officials to ensure compliance and safety. The incumbent has first line responsibility to communicate effectively with project stakeholders regarding construction activity impacts and schedules.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $140,000 - $201,800 (Annual Rate).

Ten (10) years working in specialized training such as Construction Trades & Engineers performing renovations, repairs, upgrades, and/or new construction projects.
Professional license in Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering or Foreman level or higher in related Building Trades or Stationary Engineering License.
Valid driver’s license.
LEED Accreditation.
APPA CEFP, IFMA CFM/FMP, BOMI RPA/FMA.
Advanced knowledge of the organization, including its infrastructure, rules, regulations, policies and short- and long-range strategic building plans.
Thorough knowledge and experience with local, state, and federal building codes and regulations.
University, Research Laboratory/ or Medical Center experience.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Minimum 5+ years of related experience.
Eight (8) years of experience in managing building renovation, major maintenance, facilities systems upgrades, and construction projects / or an equivalent combination of education and experience / training.
Advanced knowledge of building and construction, design, construction contract administration and California Building Codes, including advanced understanding of industry practices, or deep expertise in a highly specialized and critical discipline.
Advanced construction project management skills to effectively manage highly complex projects, or highly specialized and critical project component.
Advanced analytical, organizational and problem recognition / avoidance / resolution skills.
Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including highly effective negotiation skills and highly developed political acumen.
Advanced ability to manage contractors and maintain compliance to the agreed-upon scope of work and budget.
Experience leading multi-discipline project groups on large complex projects or programs.
Ability to work at various campus locations in a timely manner.
