Our Corporate Accounting team is seeking a Technical Accounting Manager to lead technical accounting reviews of complex transactions, maintain the Company’s accounting policies, and assist in implementing new accounting standards. This position will serve as an internal consultant on accounting matters with various functions across the Company. This position will also assist in the preparation of the Company’s quarterly and annual financial filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The selected candidate should have a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, an ability to research complex technical accounting topics, and should be able to work independently and follow up on action items.
This a remote position will require ad hoc office visits to the Reston, VA office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage technical accounting activities including evaluation and implementation of new accounting standards, accounting for complex or non-routine transactions, and providing accounting advice and analysis to internal stakeholders on accounting matters and accounting policies
- Prepare technical memos documenting accounting treatment and conclusions for complex transactions or for required routine analyses
- Keep abreast of US GAAP, and other regulatory and technical guidance and regulations
- Establish, document and manage the Company’s accounting policies ensuring they continue to be relevant as US GAAP guidance and the business evolves
- Maintain a knowledge base of current industry practices to ensure best practices are monitored and considered
- Facilitate training on various accounting topics as needed.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure that technical accounting and accounting policy matters are resolved timely
- Assist with the accounting for revenue recognition, goodwill, intangibles, impairments, capitalized internally developed software, purchase accounting, hedging, equity, debt, and leases, including review of balance sheet reconciliations and variance analyses
- Assist with the accounting and reporting for acquisitions, including due diligence, purchase accounting, and evaluation of related reporting and disclosure requirements
- Assist with the preparation, review and analysis of the statement of cash flows, including coordination with finance for cash flow forecasting
- Assist with the preparation and filing of quarterly and annual financial statements with the SEC
- Assist with the monthly accounting close process including preparation of monthly results, analysis and other reporting materials to management team
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
- 7+ years of relevant experience (preferably with technical accounting experience)
- Certified Public Accounting (CPA) certification
- Proficient knowledge of GAAP, SEC and other accounting and reporting standards
- Professional experience in a government contracting environment is highly desired.
