Job Description | The School of Sciences and Health at Elizabethtown College is currently seeking an Administrative Assistant. The primary purpose of this full-time, 12 month position is to provide administrative support to the Dean in the new School of Sciences and Health and ensure smooth and efficient workflow within the Departments of Biological and Environmental Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry, and Psychology. This person will work alongside the Dean and science department chairs and actively contribute to the daily operation of the School, departments, and academic programs. The individual will serve as a resource for the Dean, faculty, staff, prospective and current students, alumni, friends of the departments and School of Sciences and Health, and other individuals.
Another important component of this position is to support the Chair of the Health Professions Advising Committee (HPAC) to support departmental and college-wide pre-professional programs including, Pre-Medical, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Vet, Pre-Physician Assistant specialties, etc.

Job Duties | · Provide administrative support to the Dean of the School of Sciences and Health. · Provide administrative support to the science departments. · Purchase items and reconcile School and science department and faculty purchasing cards. · Receive and categorize specially-handled packages and deliveries for science departments (i.e. live and preserved specimens, frozen items and hazardous chemicals). · Manage stockroom inventory of chemicals, glassware and other reagents for science classes, labs, and research. · Maintain a schedule of equipment preventative maintenance and arrange for needed repairs. · Coordinate events and activities (e.g. field trips, conference planning, awards ceremonies, etc.) for the science departments and programs. · Assist in hiring process of new faculty/staff in the School and science departments as needed and facilitate arrangements for external speakers. · Oversee student assistants in the science departments (i.e. hiring, timecard tracking, etc.). · Help maintain science department and faculty websites and provide updates to social media platforms. · Work with the Admissions Office and Chair of HPAC to: - organize Admission’s event (i.e. Open House and Admitted Student Days);
- coordinate prospective student visits;
- coordinate science department/program-specific communication with prospective students.
· Work with the Chair of HPAC to: - Maintain HPAC Canvas page and JayWeb account;
- Coordinate “Third Year” HPAC conversations.
· Other duties as assigned. |
