Assisting in the development of project plans, tasks, timelines and work schedules for assigned projects specifically related to the care and improvement of more than 22 acres of sports turf, gardens, pool, tennis courts and additional recreational fields and facilities under Fitness and Recreation.
Maintenance includes turf, grounds, and building management, inventory, equipment repair, sport field marking, and management of student employees. Will oversee the correct application of chemicals, maintain groundskeeping strategies, layout and upkeep of sport field markings and develop the turf for safe participation in programs and events. Will also perform general maintenance in the Sarkeys Fitness Center and swim complex, as weather and season provide. Ensures that trash and debris are removed from grounds and that trash receptacles are emptied. Will work in outdoor spaces as well as interior spaces as necessary.
Required Education/Experience: 6 months landscaping/grounds keeping experience.
Skills:

Familiarity with computers, lawn mowers, paint sprayers, and similar equipment
Knowledge of computer software for record keeping

Certifications:
Advertised Physical Requirements: Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods. Regular exposure to disagreeable conditions, extreme temperature changes, odors, and hazardous chemicals, lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying heavy loads. Repetitive motions, stooping and bending. Prolonged standing and walking; constant exposure to loud noises. Some overtime, including nights, weekends and holidays may be required. May be designated as an essential position during emergencies or campus closures. May be required to remain on campus overnight during weather or other emergencies.
Department Preferences:
6-12 months maintenance/carpentry experience
6-12 months previous professional grounds keeping experience, to including tending turf, field markings, etc.
Certified Applicator License with a Category 3A (Ornamental and Turn Outdoor) endorsement.
Supervision: Receives general supervision from designated supervisor and will supervise a small staff of student employees.
