Provides operational management and oversight to the pediatric diabetes research team. This individual will manage research study resources. Resources include review of staff allocations on various projects, supplies, and space used for projects. The Program Manager will work in conjunction with the Medical Director of Pediatric Diabetes to establish work priorities for the team and aid with the conduct of studies from the planning phase to final publication of results. The Program Manager will oversee the quality assurance of studies conducted by the team, ensuring all team members maintain necessary certifications and comply with the Standard Operating Procedures utilized by the Pediatric Diabetes Research Team, including ensuring proper documentation and reporting, and compliance with various policies and regulations that may be set forth by Yale University or a study sponsor.
The Program Manager will serve as a liaison between research staff and the sponsors, IRB, federal, state, and university officials, and other regulatory agencies to maintain accurate communication of costs, policy changes, fiscal requirements, and regulatory issues.
Specific areas that the Program Manager will oversee include the weekly team meetings held by the Pediatric Diabetes research team including keeping minutes on these meetings. Further, the Program Manager will be a liaison between the business office, sponsors, and Yale Center for Clinical Investigation to ensure that milestones are invoiced for and work completed on studies is appropriately invoiced and received.
The Program Manager will evaluate protocol, study design, and assess risk to participants; he/she will monitor enrollment goals and modify strategies for recruitment to achieve the desired targets, as necessary.
The Program Manager will assist with submission of grant to obtain new sources of funding. This will include extraction of preliminary data and analysis that may support the application as well as assisting with writing and review of the grant proposals. The Program Manager will liaise with the business office to aide with budget development and coordinate with the pre-Awards team on the submission. He/she may be asked to assist with development of tables/figures for grant submissions.
Additionally, annual reports required by funding bodies will be tracked by the Program Manager, and the individual will assist with timely preparation and submission of these progress reports.
The Program Manager will also assist with integration into the T1D Exchange Quality Improvement Initiative. While this group is long-standing, as Yale joins the team as a new center, time will need to be devoted to ensure that contracts are completed and process are in place to allow for data captured with the electronic medical record can be transmitted to the Coordinating Center. Any additional data that needs to be extracted manually will fall under the purview of the Program Manager, or their appropriately designated staff member who the Program Manager oversees.
The Program Manager will be responsible for developing and coordinating onboarding and training for new research staff members, including post-docs and students.

1. Oversees the advancement and growth of the program. Gives direction and leadership supporting the philosophy, mission, strategy, and annual goals and objectives. Assumes primary accountability for disseminating and publishing all program information to create public awareness and support of the program. 2. Works closely with leadership, internal and external colleagues, and community residents to further develop and implement strategic plans. 3. Identifies, solicits, and cultivates community partnerships and collaborations to assist in the development and growth of the program. Develops the metrics to identify and measure the success of the program. Responsible for measurements of grant success and related evaluation. 4. Assists in identifying and evaluating potential future funding sources, and contributes to the submission of grants and contracts supporting the program, including the annual submission and writing of all content areas and budgetary sections of grant applications. Develops and manages the program’s operating budget. 5. Develops the administrative infrastructure of the program. Manages human resource and administrative functions of the program, including staffing and hiring, supervision, performance development, counseling and discipline, if warranted. Oversees and manages information systems, facilities, and space needs. 6. Investigates, identifies, implements, and oversees the maintenance of systems to gather, track, and report information to support the initiatives of the program. Tracks all program activities and regularly informs leadership of progress on each initiative. Recommends structural or programmatic adjustments, changes or additions based on full knowledge of missions, goals, and objectives. 7. Initiates, designs, and manages the compilation of program communications; identifying outreach potential, and promoting philanthropic and collaborative support of the program. Contributes to the development and assists in the management of content on the program’s website and monitors all changes and additions to the editorial content. 8. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum requirement of Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
