Client GFX and AI Graphics Engineering (CGAI) is responsible for delivering industry-leading GPU (3D, media, compute, and display) hardware intellectual property (IP) blocks and system-on-chip (SoC) products for discrete graphics and throughput computing. We strive to lead the industry through continuous innovation and world-class engineering. The Discrete Graphics SoC team is within CGAI and we charter/responsible for improving the energy efficiency of our Xe* GPUs. As a member of Power Management team, you will be prototyping low-power solutions for various design blocks. You will be collaborating with architects, RTL and Platform, and software teams to analyze and implement low-power solutions for next generation Intel GPU products. Our development activities include micro-architecture, firmware, hardware design and pre-silicon verification. This position is for SoC PM Firmware Development Engineer managing power/energy efficiently for Client/Server DGPU SoC products, with focus on Reset, Active power management, idle power management, thermal management.
Job responsibilities include:
Understanding hardware/firmware architecture specifications and developing firmware design- coding in C++/Assembly language following strict quality norms and coding guidelines- unit testing, static code analysis of firmware component- debugging of failures at both pre-silicon and post-silicon environments;- and improving the debug infrastructure for firmware debug
Oversees definition, design, verification, and documentation for SoC (System on a Chip) development.
C++ and Advanced SW development skills - Clean Code principles, Software Development
Perform the role of Silicon Power-On Lead when required.
Provide mentoring to other team members on Firmware development
Low level firmware development including design and implementation of code that interacts directly with hardware.
Collaborate with internal and external team members on architectural decisions, development flows and methodologies.
Provide Technical Leadership to team while contributing individually
Participate in design reviews of hardware and related software systems.
Closely work with Verification team and help define testplan and debug design.
Participate and drive timing convergence for high speed designs including micro-architecture optimizations
Should have worked in cross-functional teams and demonstrated experience in root cause analysis

Minimum skills and experience:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical/ electronic/ computer engineering, computer science or any STEM related field with over 8+ yrs. of experience or master’s degree in electrical/ electronic/ computer engineering, computer science or any STEM related field or PhD in electrical/ electronic/ computer engineering, computer science, or any STEM related field with 3+ years of experience
Minimum 8 years of experience in SoC/Embedded Systems with at least 5+ years of firmware/software validation experience dealing with hardware level intricacies.
5+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
Experience in developing firmware
C++ and Advanced SW development skills - Clean Code principles, Software Development
Knowledge of two or more power management features and functionality, including: power states/flows, power consumption, power delivery, reset sequence, OS power management, device power management and stability between power management subsystem/domains and other subsystems in the System setting
SW/HW Validation Experiences: unit / functional/ integration / exploratory
Debugging techniques local/remote, including profilers, debuggers, and system monitoring hardware desired.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficient in microcontroller environment (Tensilica/ARC/ARM Cortex M or similar).
Close interactions with multiple Performance/Compute critical IP to understand their Power management requirements, translating them to cutting edge algorithms for best in class Leakage/Dynamic power number
Prior Experience in SoC development / Embedded systems is mandatory. Exposure to CPU, Graphics, Media, Display, DDR, Imaging, Audio, IO systems is highly desired with strong expertise in any of these domains.

Work Model for this Role
