Overview
Working as a bridge between customers and engineering teams, Application Engineers use customer input and sales information to recommend, design or re-design, develop, test and implement products. They also provide technical support and expertise to customers, testing applications, responding to customer feedback, installations, and often performing sales presentations and product demonstrations.
Application Engineers reach across many departments, working with the engineering team, the sales team, the customer service team and the manufacturing team.
Responsibilities
Become the subject matter expert for all assigned products sold into the market, to include hardware and software.
Train sales and service team on latest hardware and software product offerings.
Train end users on hardware and software product offerings.
Assist sales team in power studies and product/application solutions.
Provide product application training to sales force and customers. Assist in the development of training materials.
Communicate feedback from the field to Engineering, Manufacturing, and other departments.
Perform application trouble shooting to ensure product is properly used. Analysis performed at customer site as well as remotely by phone, Email or other means.
Qualifications
Educations, Experience, Certifications:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Prefer minimum 2 years experience in engineering, testing and/or product development in an industrial environment
Lithium battery experience with CAN bus preferred
Must be comfortable and competent working with high energy systems (480V AC, 30Kw battery systems)
Read electronic schematics for products with purpose of gaining understanding of circuit operation and identifying product failures
Identify, analyze, and repair electronic product failures
Competencies, Skills, Knowledge:
Organized and methodical to handle large amounts of information efficiently and effectively
Be able to understand technical drawings, datasheets, and written work instructions
Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Strong verbal/written communication skills
Maintain professional manner while under stressful conditions, such as unsatisfied customer or urgent deadline.
Capacity to facilitate teamwork across departments
Troubleshooting and analytical ability
Must be quality and customer oriented
Able to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment on multiple projects
Strength and agility to be able to lift and move 50 lbs weight
