Summary:
Serving as a member of the Summa Health Corporate Communications team, the Senior Communications Strategist supports strategic communications efforts to maintain a favorable public image of SummaCare – a provider-owned regional health insurance company – and its business partners.
This position serves as the day-to-day lead strategist and tactician – with a proven understanding of communications and social media skills and competencies – to support initiatives while managing multiple complex projects simultaneously. Supports both internal and external facets of SummaCare’s business, including the development of communications plans to support multiple lines of business, articles and publications, social media content, web content, letters/memos, speech writing and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Formal Education Required:
a. Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations or closely related field.
2. Experience & Training Required:
a. Minimum seven (7) years of communications experience.
b. Previous experience working in the insurance industry is preferred, but not required.
c. Understanding of media relations is preferred, but not required.
3. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Ability to communicate verbally and strong writing skills must be demonstrated.
b. Ability to deliver high quality work in a timely manner.
c. Ability to manage multiple jobs and still deliver work on time and within budget.
d. Mastery of various computer programs used in production and delivery of work.
e. Ability to work within guidelines and in a stressful environment. Ability to be an effective, contributing team player who enjoys working with others.
f. Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
4. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Ability to work in an office environment with others.
b. Occasional light lifting of event supplies, printed materials, etc.
