Job Abstract

Hospice of the Piedmont is dedicated to providing exceptional hospice care to patients during the final stages of life. We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated full-time Hospice Aide (CNA) to join our team at the Center for Acute Hospice Care in Charlottesville, VA.

As a Hospice Aide in our residential hospice care program, you will play a crucial role in providing comfort, support, and assistance to patients and their families during challenging times. This is a fulltime day shift position working 7a-7p, alternating weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care following the care plan developed by the interdisciplinary team.
• Assist with personal care, ambulation, positioning, and transferring as required.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition or behavior to the hospice nurse.
• Set up meal trays, feed patients, and assist with necessary housekeeping.
• Document all care provided and changes in patient condition accurately and timely.
• Use positive communication techniques with patients and families, ensuring ethical and respectful care.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of care.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
• Respect and uphold patient rights and confidentiality.

Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Virginia.
• Prior experience in hospice care or a similar setting preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of direct patient care.
• Compassionate and empathetic nature with the ability to provide emotional support.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Physical stamina to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
