California State University San Marcos is a public university in San Marcos, California. It was founded in 1989 as the 21st campus in the 23-campus California State University system. CSUSM offers 43 bachelor's degrees, 23 master's degrees, an Ed.D. program, and 13 teaching credentials. When Bill W. Stacy was named CSUSM's founding president in September 1989, he got right to work assembling faculty, building a curriculum, recruiting a student body and planning construction of the a physical campus.
