Under the supervision of the Administrative Nurse Manager and guided by the Committee on Interdisciplinary Practice (“CIDP”) Standardized Process and Outcome Protocols and Procedures of Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the Medical Director, the Nurse Practitioner performs physical examinations and treats common episodic and chronic health care problems with an emphasis on health maintenance and disease prevention through education and counseling. The Nurse Practitioner also provides for care continuity for DGIM patients by providing cross coverage for clinical partners including triage, management of clinical team messages, prescription refills, lab orders, and referral requests. The Nurse Practitioner will also provide acute appointment access for urgent visits. They consistently project a professional and courteous demeanor. The Nurse Practitioner supports the vision of the Patient-Centered Medical Home model and supports the open access and same day response requests by patients. The Nurse Practitioner shall comply with the Medical Center House and Telephone Standards. The Nurse Practitioner must have flexibility to cover multiple General Internal Medicine providers and clinic sites. UCSF Medical Center requires all Advanced Health Professionals (AHP) to be credentialed through its Medical Staff Services Office (MSSO) in order to practice and function in their clinical role. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 30-60 days and must be completed prior to the first working day.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

- Master’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and primary care or internal medicine experience and /or other specific qualifications may also be required by individual user departments
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records including Epic/Apex
- Experience working as a primary care provider independently managing a panel of patients
- Minimum of 2 (two) years experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a primary care or internal medicine clinic within the last 3 (three) years
