Job Summary
B&A is looking for an IT Training Lead to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. As the IT Training Lead, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive IT training program that enhances the skills and knowledge of our employees across various IT disciplines. Leveraging your expertise in instructional design, training delivery, and IT technologies, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify training needs, develop customized training materials, and deliver engaging and effective training sessions. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with department managers, team leads, and other stakeholders to conduct needs assessments and identify training needs across various IT disciplines.
- Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive training curriculum for IT staff, including technical skills training, software applications training, cybersecurity awareness, and other relevant topics.
- Facilitate training sessions using a variety of delivery methods, including instructor-led training, virtual instructor-led training, e-learning modules, and hands-on workshops.
- Create and maintain training materials, including presentations, user guides, job aids, and online tutorials, to support training delivery and ensure consistency and quality.
- Provide hands-on technical training and mentoring to IT staff, helping them develop proficiency in key technologies and tools used within the organization.
- Implement mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of training programs and gather feedback from participants, using data and feedback to continuously improve training content and delivery methods.
- Evaluate and select external training vendors and manage relationships with training providers to supplement internal training programs as needed.
- Oversee the administration of the organization's LMS, including course catalog management, user enrollment, progress tracking, and reporting.
- Ensure that IT staff receive mandatory compliance training, including security awareness training, and monitor compliance with training requirements.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in IT training and development, and share knowledge with colleagues to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Education, or a related field.
- 8 years of proven experience.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in instructional design, curriculum development, and training delivery, preferably in an IT environment.
- Strong understanding of IT technologies, including networking, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and software applications.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences.
- Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning authoring tools.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Desired Skills
- Relevant certifications in training, instructional design, or IT (e.g., CPTM, CPLP, CompTIA CTT+).
- Experience with specific IT training methodologies and frameworks (e.g., ADDIE, Agile, SAM).
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design best practices.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies and trends in IT training and development.
- Experience in evaluating and selecting external training vendors.
- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a training function.
- Ability to develop and deliver training programs in multiple formats (e.g., instructor-led, virtual, e-learning).
- Experience with compliance training requirements, particularly related to IT security awareness.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
