Associate General Counsel

Reporting to the Sr. General Counsel, you will the opportunity to assists in protecting the organization's legal interest and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law. Provides hands-on counsel to all levels of executive staff and manages the operations of legal department for a major segment of business. Also serves as organization’s chief attorney for Labor and Employment legal matters. Responsible for identifying and analyzing legal issues, drafting key documents, presenting clear recommendations, handling mergers and acquisitions, and assuring legal compliance.

Your Challenge:
Draft, negotiate, review, research, and interpret a wide variety of agreements associated with the business, including agreements with partners, merchants, vendors, consultants, and other third parties
Act as lead in-house attorney to advise the organization on all labor and employment law related matters, including managing employment claims with federal (EEOC) and state agencies; assisting local management in employee disciplinary matters; union and collective bargaining, including working and managing outside counsel in such matters
Identify, analyze, and advise on legal risks, and propose appropriate actions to ensure compliance with regulatory matters and applicable laws and provide alternative solutions to mitigate business risks impacting the company
Coordinate, collaborate with, and support the General Counsel, members of the management team, and other key business stakeholders from various departments to provide time and effective legal support and advice
Responsible for coordinating and communicating with General Counsel, outside counsel, government agencies, service providers, and other third parties regarding litigation and other legal matters, registrations, and compliance requirements
Support drafting, distribution, and maintenance of form agreements and the enhancement of tools, processes, and procedures relating to such documents and the legal department generally
Ability to counsel business partners, effectively identifying risk and mitigation options
Willingness to work on a team, interacting across different functions and job levels
High-energy, positive attitude and commitment to success
What you Bring:
Doctoral Degree in Law required
State Bar Association member in good standing
5 - 10 years' experience in legal experience in a similar law firm, in-house or government regulatory practice, specializing in labor and employment law
Extensive experience practicing law in a broad range of areas; experience in general corporate, contract and compliance is essential
Experience in Government Contracting is a strong positive with a good working knowledge of the FAR and DFAR is an asset
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical, contract drafting, and negotiation proficiency required
Prior experience as a member of an in-house legal department preferred
