We are pleased to offer these summer school opportunities to our bargaining unit members for the 2024 Summer Session.
This summer, we are offering three summer learning opportunities for our students currently enrolled in grades K through 11, and a Special Education Extended School Year (ESY) session for students whose IEPs mandate an offer of ESY. Within this brochure are the descriptions of those programs and the classification assignments we are seeking to fill.

Unit members hired to work a summer session assignment are eligible for a one-time stipend as follows:
Session 1: June–June 17th—21st (4 days): $88 a week June 24th—28th (5 days): $110 a week Additionally, ESP's will also receive an additional $110 for completing their entire assignment without missing time.
Session 2: July– Unit members will be paid an additional:
July 1st—5th (4 days): $88 a week July 8th—12th (5 days): $110.00 July 15th—19st (5 days ): $110.00 July 22nd—26th (5 days ): $110.00 Additionally, ESP's will also receive an additional $110 for completing their entire assignment without missing time.
Session 3: August – July 29th—August 2nd (5 days): $165 a week Additionally, ESP's will also receive an additional $110 for completing their entire assignment without missing time.

Assignment letters will be emailed by May 24, 2024.

THE DETAILS
Assignment Questions Q: How do you decide who gets a Summer Session assignment? A: We assign all positions according to the guidelines outlined in Article 34 in the VESPA contract. Please refer to section 34.8 in your contract to review the process. Lost your copy of the contract? You may view it online by visiting the Classified Human Resources page and clicking on VUSD-VESPA Bargaining Unit Agreement under the “Resources” section.
Q: What if I am currently out on medical leave, may I still apply for a Summer Session opportunity? A: Yes, you can apply for a summer session opportunity. However you would need to provide a medical note by June 07, 2024 clearing you to return to work.
Q: When will I be notified if I have been assigned to a Summer Session position? A: Notices will be sent on May 24, 2024. If you are assigned a position, your notification will include the details for your specific assignment, such as start and end times, location and any mandatory meetings.
Q: What if I can only work a portion of the summer session, can I choose which summer session I am available to work? A: You may select which programs you would like to apply to work: June Session 1a, June Session 1b, July Session 2a, ESY, Summer Session 2b, and/or Session 3 August Enrichment. Assignments will be based on seniority, and priority will be given to those who can work the full session designated for the particular program.
The On-Line Application Process Q: What is my username and password for the on-line application? A: If you are a first-time user of our NeoGov application process, you will need to establish an account just like you would with any web-based service such as Amazon, your utility services, or your bank. If you already have an account with NeoGov, you will need to log-in with the information you established for yourself. Q: I forgot my username and password! What do I do? A: From the log-in screen you can select “Forgot Username?” or “Reset Password.” NeoGov will then walk you through the steps necessary to retrieve this information. Hint: your Username is usually the email address you use to conduct business through NeoGov—and most folks use their personal email address—so you might give that a try.
