Overview
The Instructional Technologist supports faculty members utilizing the university's instructional technologies including but not limited to the learning management system(s). They will additionally support instructors through individual consultations, by developing resources, and by presenting group training.
Responsibilities
• Prepare and develop training materials for the supported applications. • Facilitates and promotes live and recorded workshops and presentations on topics including but not limited to the uses of instructional technology and e-learning tools • Consult with faculty to solve problems or issues they encounter using Catholic University’s centrally supported instructional technology tools within the context of their classes. • Maintains up-to-date computer skills by attending training on new equipment and learning new/modified procedures and software. • Creates and builds engaging professional development materials related to e-learning tools and educational technologies, including their effective applications in a variety of formats. • Coordinates and Assists with the university learning management system administrator on approved partnerships • Assist in updating and maintaining the website for the department. This will include designing pages, creating and uploading content and monitoring external links. • Provide support for effective system use at the school and department levels.
Qualifications
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Technology, or a related field, from an accredited college or university. • Two to three years of professional experience needed in the following areas: o Demonstrated success working with faculty, teaching assistants or other instructional staff in relation to e-learning platforms and other instructional technologies. o Experience facilitating and delivering professional development and event organization, design and implementation. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Proficient working within a Learning Management System (Brightspace is preferred) • Proficient in web communication platforms (Zoom is preferred) • Knowledge of Video enterprise tools (YuJa Video is preferred) • Proficient in Google Suite tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides) or equivalent. • Ability to synthesize and present information to a variety of audiences.
