Responsibilities The Transportation Manager is responsible for oversight of freight and transportation operations in a multi-location geographic region. Collaborating with peers, superiors, and cross-functional partners to establish and implement company standards, policies, and best safety practices is also expected. Model safe practices and engage team to own a safety culture that focuses on prevention through personal responsibility, peer accountability, and, when necessary, immediate, and thorough incident response. Responsible for transportation operations activity (inbound and outbound) for all plants, co-packers and warehouses, sales within the Region of Responsibility. Provide direct supervision and oversight of IBT Drivers and activities within the Region(s). Deliver financial objectives by maximizing productivity through IBT optimization (Driver/Tractor Utilization), 3PL / Dedicated Carrier management, and partnership with the operations, sales, and supply chain departments that delivers premium service to all Primo customers. Responsible and Accountable for on-time delivery performance and recommend changes when necessary. Collaborate cross-functionally with division sales, operations, production, and supply chain departments to ensure teams are working together toward the common goal of customer service while prioritizing deliveries. Develop, track, and communicate carrier performance within the Division Lead implementation of nationwide transportation strategies that align with broad company priorities and business plans. Prepare for transportation national WOR (Weekly Ops Review) and facilitate division weekly performance KBIs with actions to close any gaps or opportunity areas. This position will ensure high quality standards with regards to shipping/receiving and IBT lane efficiency at the lowest achievable cost while protecting and maintaining company assets. Develop and publish weekly and monthly IBT route efficiency statistics and increase effectiveness based on those findings. Ensure compliance with all DOT Regulations and all internal requirements. Identify best practices for traffic patterns, load patterns to maximize trailer capacity, asset security and safety. Work with Fleet Department to control annual expenses related to repair & maintenance and assist maintain 100% PM compliance for tractors/trailers. Set daily transportation workload schedules to efficiently manage the department while maintaining all needs for the retail department as needed. Work with IBT Drivers to ensure that policies and practices are properly followed. Monitor labor/driving efficiencies of all IBT drivers. Through hiring practices, professional development, and leadership, grow the team's technical competence and business acumen and reduce turnover. Quickly and thoroughly react to all new programs that could help the company reduce costs, generate growth, and increase revenues. Manage and report on weekly KPI scorecard to accountable for business results. Work in sync with Production, HOD, Fleet, Safety and Supply Chain towards common goals to create a unified vision of team collaboration. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Preferred, not required. High School Diploma required. Experience in and transportation and fleet in a leadership role. Proven leadership in influencing and motivating remote teams. Driver qualified to perform safety checkpoints with drivers. Strong analytical skill set, proven effectiveness in reporting. Experience with Drive-Cam. Experience with leading organizational transformation; demonstrated knowledge and use of change management methods and practices. Advanced level of competency in computer systems and software, including Microsoft Office. Experience in financial planning and analysis. Familiarity with DOT regulations governing the use of Commercial Vehicles. Excellent communication, coaching, and leadership skills. Ability and willingness to commit to a significant amount of travel.
