Job Description
The Civil/Structural Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and analysis of solar and BESS energy facilities. This includes reviewing and revising commercial and utility plan sets for photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Storage (BESS) systems and site survey sketches. Responsibilities include creating site plans, geotechnical reports, site surveys, erosion control, environmental impact reports, foundation layouts, BOMs, structural details, material take-offs, and equipment specifications. The engineer will work closely with customers, other engineering and design team members, and contractors to coordinate design packages and ensure successful construction and energization of projects.

Essential Functions:
Organize, review, interpret, research, execute, coordinate, and comment on project pursuit and design packages.
Responsible for all aspects of design, including grading, structure design verification, plan and profile drawings, foundation design, material and construction specifications, and associated calculations.
Analyze solar and BESS energy projects, including civil/structural plant design and power distribution systems (Low, Medium, and High Voltage).
Conduct analysis of topography surveys, geotechnical reports, Alta Surveys, environmental impact surveys, corrosion analysis, hydrology reports, etc.
Develop and optimize design concepts, field construction, and installation methods.
Provide long-term detailed design, optimization, and constructability support.
Use civil/structural engineering calculation tools to size equipment and materials based on project requirements.
Write and evaluate independent engineering reports.
Review calculations of pressures, loads, and stresses.
Review commercial agreements, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPA), Interconnection Agreements, Service Contracts, and Facility Studies.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Business Development, Estimating, and Engineering teams to create preliminary site layouts and landscape plans for project proposals.
Provide engineering support for proposals, estimating, procurement, and construction.
Offer technical support to cross-functional teams on assigned projects.
Assess equipment technology and use cases for proposed projects to optimize system design.
Assist with the design and optimization of BESS and solar PV systems to meet project requirements, minimize costs, and propose value.
Convey results and findings through discussions, presentations, and project documentation.
Demonstrate familiarity with mounting and installing various renewable energy equipment.
Assist with planning and obtaining permits and regulatory approvals.
Review and approve material specifications and vendor drawings for major equipment.
Conduct detailed design and QA/QC reviews to ensure alignment with customer requirements, Company standards, and industry best practices.
Perform site visits to verify construction agreements with design drawings, including preparatory meetings and QA/QC.
