The City of Torrance is recruiting for a Senior Recreation Supervisor to be part of the Community Services Team!

The Department
The mission of the Community Services Department is to enrich the community through the provision of recreational, cultural, and educational opportunities for persons of all abilities. The Community Services Department takes pride in “Enriching the Community through People, Programs, and Partnerships”. The Department is a diverse organization which consists of five Divisions that work collaboratively to meet the vision, mission, and goals of the department: Administrative Services, Cultural Services, Library Services, Parks Services, and Recreation Services.
The Division
The mission of the Cultural Services Division is to strengthen the City of Torrance as a unique center for cultural programs, the arts and arts education through developing the Torrance Cultural Arts Center as a unified campus for learning and excellence; providing classes, programs, and events that enrich the community through arts training and instruction for all levels of learning; creating new arts experiences and attracting new audiences; serving the unique needs of artists, connecting their work to the public and developing unique artistic resources of and for this community.
Major programs within the Division include the Torrance Art Museum, Torrance Theatre Company, Torrance Civic Chorale, and hundreds of classes offered in all the arts for all ages and levels of ability at the Cultural Arts Center. The Division also produces the annual Cherry Blossom Cultural Festival in Columbia Park every spring and a Summer Concerts series at The Amphitheater at Wilson Park.
The Position
The Community Services Department Cultural Services Division is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented professional with recreation experience to serve as the Senior Recreation Supervisor. There is currently one vacancy in the Division, and this position will plan, organize, and supervise the Special Events, Specialized camps and classes, and other Divisional Programs of the Cultural Services Division. This position will be responsible for coordinating programs, training full-time and part-time personnel and evaluating their performance. The Senior Recreation Supervisor assists in preparation and administration of the budget, and may conduct studies and write reports regarding Cultural Services Programs.
In addition to the duties connected to the theatre program, the Senior Recreation Supervisor will provide special event logistics and production of summer festivals and special events, including Torrance Summer Nights, Torrance Cherry Blossom Cultural Festival, and the Excellence in Arts Awards. The Senior Recreation Supervisor will provide support to the Cultural Arts Commission, Torrance Sister City Association, and Torrance Rose Float Association.
