About the Role: As the Director of Strategy, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact through strategic analytical insights, project management, and collaboration at a family oriented growing retail company. In our entrepreneurial and collaborative environment, you will lead a broad range of projects that significantly shape the future and growth of our unique operating model. You will collaborate with various stakeholders in all departments to define Grocery Outlet’s strategic priorities and play a role in managing implementation of initiatives from identification to incubation to longer-term scaling. The Director of Strategy will report to the SVP of Strategy and Finance.
Responsibilities Include:
Drive long-term strategic growth planning and strategic priorities focused on the Operations side of our business (e.g., our stores, our Independent Operators, and our entire operations team).
Partner with both the Operations leadership team and lead cross-functional groups to consistently identify and pursue opportunities to improve Grocery Outlet business performance within our unique operating model
Lead strategic initiatives from start to finish including identification of opportunity, structure of initiative, test and learn approach, impact synthesis, and broader roll outs. Past initiatives include: E-commerce opportunity evaluation and roll out, new market expansion prioritization, and self check-out/other store technology pilots.
Serve as a strategic thought partner for the Operations Senior Leadership team
Conduct ad hoc Grocery Outlet performance, financial, and market analysis to inform strategic decision making
Lead synthesis of information to support board and executive team meetings
Over time develop a team of strategy analysts
About The Pay:
Base Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000 Annually

About You:
Proven 6+ years relevant work experience (consulting, business strategy and/or private equity). Retail/consumer products experience preferred
Master’s degree in business administration preferred
Thrive in a fast paced, start up like environment, where you will wear multiple hats every day
Strong analytical and statistical skills with ability to distill insights into actionable strategies
Excellent at creating structure for complex problems, simplifying, identifying core drivers, and performing thoughtful analysis
Creative and innovative thinker with an inquisitive nature and passion for learning the end-to-end details of a retail business
Excellent written and oral communication skills to engage effectively across functions and stakeholders and collaborate effectives across departments and up and down all levels
Excellent leadership skills and demonstrated experience building, motivating, and developing high performing teams
Self-starter who is able to manage own work
