The Director of Account Management for TPA is responsible for supervising the UMR Account Mgt staff that is tasked with customer retention and selling of additional lines of coverage, include specialty, stop loss and pharmacy in Mid-Atlantic market. We are looking for a solid, strategic leader who has experience dealing with C suite level customers, has a solid vision for his/her team and can successfully execute on that vision. ?

Primary Responsibilities:
Management Responsibilities:
- Manage and monitor client assignments
- Mentor and develop Account management staff including Strategic Account Executives and Field Account Managers
- Set team strategy to achieve and surpass persistency and NBEA (specialty, stop loss and pharmacy) goals
- Participate in finalist meetings with existing customers and new business opportunities and work with SAEs/FAMs to prepare for finalist meetings
- Track projected persistency and keep leadership informed of any at-risk groups and strategy to retain
- Support SAE on any RFPs
Relationship Building:
- Build and maintain key client and broker/consultant relationships
- Develop and maintain key internal relationships
- Present a positive image of UHC/UMR to the marketplace
Product Knowledge:
- Detailed understanding of all UMR TPA products, services and solution
- Working knowledge of UHC Enterprise/ancillary product lines
- Ability to identify and communicate the need for improvements in UHC TPA products and services
Healthcare Knowledge:
- Understands and can communicate goals, operating principles, strategies and competitive position of UMR TPA products
- In-depth healthcare knowledge, understands important trends
- Demonstrates knowledge of competitor's strengths, weaknesses and strategies
Financial and Underwriting:
- Understands financing methodologies and strategies (TPA, fully insured, ASO)
- Thorough knowledge of UMR TPA underwriting principles and practices
- Ability to analysis competitor quotes

- Ability to successfully implement client accounts
- Consistency models a customer-focused approach
- Effectively manages difficult service situations to a positive result
- Ability to deal with sophisticated customers and brokers/consultants
- Anticipates problems and develops contingency plans
- Ability to customize existing marketing tools to meet the individual needs of a client

Required Qualifications:.
- Sales Insurance License Maintained by Law
- 5+ years sales management experience in the health insurance industry and demonstrated success dealing with brokers/consultants with a proven track record of meeting goals/target
Preferred Qualification:
- Sales and/or Account Management experience in the TPA industry
