Job Abstract

The Public Mental Health Partnership (PMHP) is seeking a full time Director of Training. You will be expected to receive minimal direct supervision from the Directors of the PMHP and FTI and make independent clinical and operational decisions while being responsible for the following, among other general duties:

A. Training

1. Determine technical assistance and model (clinical) needs among providers working in the Full Service Partnership (FSP) model.

2. Develop technical assistance strategies to support providers working in the FSP the model.

3. Oversee the planning, delivery, and quality improvement of FSP provider trainings.

4. Compile relevant trainings used in other treatment contexts, evaluate their relevance to Los Angeles County, and consider implementation with partners and FTI team members.

5. Assist in using web-based technology to streamline delivery of training resources to FSP providers across Los Angeles County.

6. Evaluate uptake and quality of training provided to FSP providers through the FTI, and refine training plans and activities in light of feedback.

7. Provide supervision of eight Implementation Specialists, including by orienting Implementation Specialists in the training curriculum, supporting their ability to coach and mentor on site with FSP providers, and advising Directors of the FTI and PMHP on their performance.

8. Develop training guidelines for and supervise FTI training staff.

9. Consult and create corrective action plans with the FTI and PMHP Directors on administrative or clinical challenges presented by FSP providers.

10. Develop and implement quality assurance and improvement activities for all facets of program delivery.

11. Provide technical assistance, model (clinical) supervision, problem solving, and assessment of model fidelity to FSP providers, and document all supervision sessions.

B. Generate Reports and Lessons Learned

1. Plan and supervise the production of timelines, benchmarks and budgetary goals to guide CCP activities.

2. Collect documentation and supervise the production of reports, brochures, and other materials to document ongoing development of the FTI training curriculum, including development of materials such as internal reports, reports for the Los Angeles County DMH and other policy makers, and popular media products.

C. Intervention Materials Development

1. Plan and supervise the development of a portfolio of intervention materials including manuals, online and skill-building group curricula for FSP providers such as training videos, identification of relevant peer-reviewed research articles, popular media, and other training materials.

2. Monitor and enhance the components of an FTI websites and SharePoint resource library.

3. Represent the University in a professional manner.

4. Perform other duties as assigned.

1. Advanced degree in a mental health related field (MSW, Ph.D., MA, Psy.D, Ph.D. or Ed.D.)

2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

3. Demonstrated through knowledge of the Full Service Partnership program or similar programs (e.g., Assertive Community Treatment, Housing First)

4. Ability to communicate complex information to people with varying levels of education and training and different learning styles

5. Experience leading trainings for clinical staff and administrative staff

6. Ability to provide clinical support for staff at remote sites who are dealing with challenging cases and caseloads

7. Demonstrated excellence in training curriculum development

8. Experience in developing educational materials for dissemination through an Internet-based platform

9. Skill in keeping accurate records, demonstrated attention to detail .

10. Skill in developing rapport with individuals from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds

11. Demonstrated ability to learn and follow study protocols

12. Knowledge of the mental health issues impacting families of those with severe mental illness

13. A track record of ethical and professional behavior

14. Ability to work effectively and closely with other members of the project team

15. Demonstrated ability to conduct resourceful problem solving

16. Ability to work flexible hours

17. Must have valid driver's license, auto insurance, and access to an automobile

18. Willingness to travel to service delivery sites to deliver training

19. Familiarity with collaborative workgroup and reporting tools, including SalesForce, Access, and SharePoint

20. Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and Power Point.
