Associate/Senior Associate, Computer Forensics

What will you be doing?

Throughout all phases of the forensic data lifecycle, you will enable our external clients and internal teams to leverage forensic data technologies to uncover and manage data-based evidence and intelligence in contentious legal and regulatory situations.

In this role, you will assist our clients and internal teams in confronting and resolving legal matters by discovering and processing forensic data and evidence relating to complex accounting issues on a variety of projects involving economic disputes, white-collar crime investigations, forensic accounting and consulting, and post-acquisition disputes. By establishing consultative relationships withs external and internal stakeholders, you will guide them toward best practices in data and evidence protection.

Our Computer Forensics Associate and Senior Associate positions offer an opportunity to be part of a team that supports a variety of industry sectors, dispute types, and geographic jurisdictions. The problems these consultants solve for A&M’s clients are complex and require innovative solutions that call on a comprehensive range of modern data science procedures. Some of the key activities you’ll be doing include:

• Participate in the full lifecycle of forensic data processing; including the identification, recovery, preparation, analysis, and preservation of digital data used in legal or regulatory situations.
• Participate in the collection, pre-processing, capture and preparation of images and other forensic data artifacts in effort to prepare the data to analyze.
• Maintain data and documentation according to prescribed chain of custody protocol.
• Perform data extraction and conversion to migrate data to e-discovery document review environment(s).
• Processing and support of forensic images and data once in review environment.
• Analysis of artifacts to trace user activity (e.g., file manipulation, USB activity, browser history, chat analysis, cloud activity, cryptocurrency transactions, etc.).
• Draft reports on forensic data analysis to present to counsel and clients.

Core Qualifications:

• 1-4+ years’ experience in the field of digital forensics, eDiscovery, or cyber security, in a client-facing, professional service setting
• Sound technical understanding of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) and best practices in forensic collection, analysis, and review
• Extensive experience with scoping and performing on-site and remote forensic preservations of unstructured and structured data sources especially endpoint, mobile, cloud-based application, and social media data sources
• Proficiency in forensic tool suites including Magnet Forensics AXIOM, OpenText EnCase, and Cellebrite UFED, Physical Analyzer, and Inspector
• Experience performing forensic analyses and preparing client-ready work product
• Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills when working with both clients and internal technical teams
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and collect, organize, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
• Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging, and uncertain environment
• A BS, BBA, or BA degree from an accredited university with a degree focused in a technical and/or analytical field, (i.e., computer science, information systems, engineering)
• Flexibility to travel approximately 20-40% of the time

Preferred Attributes:

• Experience with data processing, document review, and production tools including Relativity, Reveal, Brainspace, ReadySuite, and Nuix
• Experience with database programming, scripting, or other computer languages (i.e., SQL, Python, Visual Basic, C) is a plus
• Training and/certifications from industry organizations or vendors (i.e., GFCE, EnCE, CISSP), and/or other relevant professional certifications

The annual base salary range for Associate is $65,000 - $90,000, and for Senior Associate is $80,000 - $110,000 commensurate with experience. In addition, A&M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance.
