Summary
Spanish Bilingual Mantra Crisis Counselors will be responsible for providing assistance to college aged students in crisis in both English and Spanish. Assistance will be provided utilizing telephone, as well as Chat and Text modalities. Counselors will provide crisis intervention, emotional support, follow up, and resources to all help-seekers. Primary Duties
Offers crisis-counseling services via telephone, chat and text primarily to college students and college faculty/staff in English and Spanish
Works alongside a cohesive team while on shift, that consists of: shift supervisors, follow up counselors, and crisis counselors.
Spanish BL Mantra Crisis Counselors will answer/manage calls/chats/texts, conduct safety assessment of crisis, de-escalate, provide resources, and safety plan as appropriate with help-seekers on both call and chat/text modalities.
Consult with Shift Supervisors or on-call team as issues arise on shift.
Serves as a mandated reporter in cases of suspected abuse, neglect, or Tarasoff/Duty to Warn.
Become familiar with and disseminate required referrals and supplemental resources to best assist and support help seekers.
Maintains accurate, timely, and detailed reports, documenting all required/identified data points.
Meet program measurable/deliverables regarding help-seekers that reach out via chats/texts/calls.
Completes required trainings and continuing education requirements regarding mandates for: contracts, agency, Suicide Prevention Center, federal and state.
Assists in the training process of new counselors.
Attends mandatory scheduled meetings for the Suicide Prevention Center, as well as, those scheduled for Mantra.
Conducts follow up duties when appropriate, following established criteria.
Performs related duties as requested.
Position Requirements
Be fluent in English and Spanish.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Be 18 years of age or older.
Have high-speed internet, Ethernet outlet, and a quiet/confidential workspace.
Be empathetic, flexible, and adaptable to varying situations.
Adapt to changing needs by acquiring new skills and knowledge while on the job.
Be available to work within the program’s operating hours, including weekends and holidays.
Be reliable and able to adhere to schedules based upon program needs.
Have successfully completed the Suicide Prevention Crisis Line training program
Have 6+ months experience as a crisis line counselor or volunteer counselor (preferable)
Complete required/requested trainings
Incorporate learned crisis model and related job specific skill, including: safety assessment, data collection, and call/chat/text triage.
Possess strong interpersonal skills and maintain professional decorum.
Communicate ideas, information, and viewpoints clearly, both verbally and in writing.
Multi-task and time manage meeting program deliverables and deadlines.
Have a current California driver’s license and vehicle insurance. Possess a clean driving record that meets the Agency’s insurance carrier requirements.

Know and comply with Agency policies, procedures, HIPAA, and other state and federal regulations relating to emergency mental health services.
Possesses computer, technical knowledge and practical application to utilize: laptop, telephony system, video conferencing, various software and hardware, necessary to work remotely with minimal IT support.
Successfully pass pre-employment screening, including a background check and live scan fingerprinting.
