The Assistant Regional Technical Director (ARTD) serves primarily as a partner in charge of audit quality and risk management matters for practices offices within their appointed region. The ARTD also serves as an internal technical consultant for complex auditing and accounting issues and situations. The ARTD maintains a high overall level of awareness and knowledge with respect to a broad range of auditing and accounting technical topics, participates in the maintenance of Firm technical materials and the development and delivery of Firm training. As a subject matter expert, the Assistant Regional Technical Director will work with the Accounting and Auditing Professional Practice Leader to identify areas to develop specific expertise. The director also leads and/or assists with various national initiatives as well as participates and serves as the BDO representative on technical and other committees of external professional groups (i.e. AICPA, CAQ, state societies of CPAs, etc.). The ARTD may also directly serve clients as Engagement Partner, Concurring Reviewer or in other capacities. Education: - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, required - Master of Business Administration or Masters in Accounting degree, preferred
Experience: - Fifteen (15) or more years of experience in the public accounting industry, required - Prior experience as a Partner in the Assurance function with a public accounting firm, preferred
License/Certifications: - CPA, required
Software: - Able to use various assurance applications and research tools, required - Microsoft Office Products, including Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, required
Other preferred qualifications: - Recognized by RMP, RTP and NAMP-AQ&PP as having the requisite technical and other skills - Strong ability to resolve complex accounting and auditing problems - Superior knowledge of tools to research accounting and SEC reporting matters - Good working knowledge of public audit policies and procedures - Outstanding communication skills - Strong presence in dealing with clients –both internally and externally - Strong risk management skills - Good business knowledge - Strong presentation and teaching skills - Has the respect of the OMPs and partners in the region - Ability to make decisions and deal with the pressures of the clients and the practice
