Program Overview:
Commercial Banking provides financial solutions to businesses with annual sales generally in excess of $10 million. Several of our main business lines are Client Coverage, Credit Solutions and Global Treasury Management. The Commercial Banking Early Career Development Program is a two-year general analyst program focused on gaining exposure to Commercial Banking through an initial phase of business rotations followed by an immersive experience in a single business. The program will promote professional development and skill acquisition through on-the-job experience as well as formal in-person and virtual training, including an upfront introduction to credit and sales fundamentals.
In the Commercial Banking Early Career Development Program, you will:
Rotate across several business areas to acquire diverse experiences and skill sets as well as determine the roles that align to your career interests. You may be involved in sales, credit, product or strategic activities such as:
- Partnering with Relationship Managers, Product Specialists and Credit Underwriters to structure multi-million-dollar transactions in specialized industry or product groups.
- Conducting in-depth market research to support our business development efforts.
- Contributing to the launch of new business initiatives or internal communication efforts.
- Understanding and evaluating customer needs to effectively identify Wells Fargo products and services that can help clients achieve their goals.
- Engaging in creative thinking and idea generation to prepare discussion materials or pitch presentations that address issues impacting our clients or prospects.
Begins July 2024; 24 months
Program structure:
Phase one - Rotations:
- You will begin your program in one of our ten regional locations. During the first phase you will have a variety of business rotations to acquire experience in Client Coverage, Credit Solutions and Global Treasury Management or other Commercial Banking divisions. These rotations will occur within your assigned regional location.
Phase two - Immersive Experience:
- Upon successful completion of your first phase rotations, you will be matched with a team that aligns to your skills and interest for a longer more in-depth experience to support the business. This team may be within your regional location or if outside, will involve a virtual work arrangement or the option to relocate.
Post program
The Commercial Banking Early Career Development Program is designed to promote a long-term career at Wells Fargo through broad exposure to the business and its career paths as well as professional and technical development. After successfully completing the program, analysts will be prepared for a multitude of roles, including Relationship Manager, Business Development Officer, Portfolio Manager, Loan Syndication Analyst, Business Execution Consultant, Commercial Banking Syndication Associate, Secured Lending Relationship Associate, Specialty Industry Lending Relationship Associate, or others.
Ideal candidates for this role must have the following:
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
- Solid problem solving and decision-making skills
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Energetic self-starter who proactively takes initiative, remains curious and has a genuine interest in learning and growth
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important
Required Qualifications, US:
- 6+ months of Commercial Banking Portfolio Management - Program experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- Must be currently pursuing a bachelor's degree with an expected graduation date between December 2023 or May/June 2024. All majors welcome.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills
- Ability to work effectively, as well as independently, in a collaborative, change driven environment
- Involvement in extracurricular enrichment activities through one or more of the following: volunteerism, student organization involvement, study abroad program(s), leadership position(s), non-profit involvement
- Demonstrated knowledge, interest and/or experience in finance, accounting, and sales
