VICE CHAIR:
Under the guidance of the Chair Family Medicine, the Vice Chair for Family Medicine is responsible for assisting the Chair in the oversight of the Department of Family Medicine. This includes but is not limited to oversight of the clinical care and the providers, ensuring quality and patient safety, supporting the residency program, and assisting in the development of pathways to maximize revenue generation from part B billing, facility charges, and supplies. Within this context, the Co-Vice Chair assists the Chairman of Family Medicine in developing the yearly budget, designing profit and loss estimates, hiring staff, and being a direct participant in all future growth plans for the department such as Family medicine expansion/construction. The Vice Chair also works with senior hospital administrators in enacting the budget, reducing negative variances, and being an active participant in the hospital-wide admission/observation process.
Works with the Chair of the Department to implement quality and patient safety initiatives, education and academic initiatives and all such other programs to enhance the Department, in compliance with state and federal regulations and laws.
Serves a vital role in coordinating the Academic initiatives of the department. Liaises with the clerkship director, the program director, simulation director (and others), and the Chair of Family Medicine-, ensuring that these educational activities are coordinated, properly funded, and complaint with state and national regulations.
PROGRAM DIRECTOR:
Directs all operations of the Family Medicine Residency and clinical patient care provided by Residents and Faculty. Develops and leads strategic plans for high-quality Resident recruitment, training and retention. Provides Residents with excellent training experience while meeting ABFM, ACGME accrediting organization and institutional standards, in coordination with the Chair of the Department and the designated Institutional official.
Works under the oversight of the Chair of the Department and the Designated Institutional Official (DIO) to address compliance with ACGME requirements, the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) FOR THE CIR/SEIU and all Hospital policies affecting Residents. Address Resident issues with the DIO, Chair and Human Resources in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and law and work with counsel and Hospital staff to resolve such issues compliantly. Reviews and attends to Resident surveys and grievances in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and Hospital policies.
Provides comprehensive primary medical services for family members of all ages continuously. Examines patients, elicits and records information, orders or executes various tests. Diagnoses, develops treatment plans, and provides wide range of coordinated preventive health services, as well as patient care management of acute and chronic disease conditions. Provides medical services in a Patient Centered Medical Home, which organizes care around the patient/family in a model that supports shared decision-making, patient/family involvement and self-management. Uses evidence-based diagnosis and treatment guidelines to provide the highest quality primary care services to patients.
- Graduate of accredited medical school - REQUIRED
- Graduate of a Family Medicine Residency Program - REQUIRED
- Vice chair of Family Medicine will have held leadership positions like Medical Director.
- Vice chair will have at least seven (7) years of experience
- Current New York State Licensed Physician
- Maintains active privileges to the Medical Staff of The Brooklyn Hospital Center – REQUIRED
- Eligible for or holds faculty appointments to Mount Sinai Hospital.
- Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine - REQUIRED
- Maintains active privileges to the Medical Staff of The Brooklyn Hospital Center – REQUIRED
- Eligible for or holds faculty appointments to Mount Sinai Hospital.
- Excellent communication and management skills.
