Overview: We are seeking a proactive and strategic Temporary Talent Acquisition Diversity Strategist to join our dynamic team at New York Life. This role will play a pivotal part in executing our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Talent Acquisition strategy, focusing on attracting diverse candidates and strengthening our partnerships. As a member of the Talent Acquisition and Talent Acquisition Early Careers teams, you will drive efforts to enhance our inclusive hiring practices and support our commitment to fostering a diverse workforce.
Responsibilities:
- DEI Talent Acquisition Strategy Execution:
- Implement the DEI Talent Acquisition strategy to attract diverse candidates across various roles and levels within the organization.
- Deepen partnerships with external diversity organizations and maintain an updated external pipeline database.
- Inclusive Hiring Best Practices:
- Advise recruiters and HR Business Partners (HRBPs) on inclusive hiring practices to ensure fair and equitable recruitment processes.
- Act as an internal resource for diverse employees, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Early Career Attraction Strategy:
- Execute the Early Career Attraction strategy, focusing on partnerships with student organizations, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs).
- Attend on-campus events, conferences, and other external events to promote New York Life's employer brand and engage with potential candidates.
- Internal and External Event Planning:
- Plan and host internal attraction events at New York Life's home office and other locations to attract diverse talent.
- Manage external diversity organizations such as NABA, ALPFA, etc. to leverage relationships and identify talent acquisition opportunities.
- Evaluation and Program Management:
- Work with stakeholders to evaluate diversity recruiting programs and sources, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
- Post open roles with external diversity partners and monitor candidate engagement and pipeline metrics.
- Collaboration and Partnership:
- Partner with the NYL DEI Center on overall DEI Talent Acquisition attraction strategy and Employee Resource Group (ERG) engagement initiatives.
- Collaborate with the NYL Internal Mobility Program to support internal talent movement and career development opportunities.
Qualifications:
· Proven experience in talent acquisition, specializing in diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies.
· Knowledgeable in inclusive hiring practices and adept at advising on recruitment processes.
· Demonstrated ability to cultivate and sustain relationships with diverse external talent pools and organizations.
· Strong organizational and project management skills, adept at prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering effective collaboration across departments and organizational levels.
· Minimum of 3 years of dedicated corporate experience in diversity and inclusion.
· Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; advanced degree preferred.
· Hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and supporting diversity and inclusion programs, ideally in a project management capacity.
· Strong business acumen with a deep understanding of organizational dynamics and strategic objectives.
· Exceptional influencing and communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Expert in consultation and negotiation, capable of achieving consensus among diverse stakeholders.
· Passion for coaching and developing professionals in diversity and inclusion.
· Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities, adept at addressing complex challenges.
· Track record of successfully managing multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.
· Outstanding interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with individuals at all organizational levels and external partners.
Salary range: $62.00 to $72.00 per hour
