The AVP, U.S. Federal Government Relations position is in Washington, D.C. This person is supervised by the Head of Business Execution and reports to Head of the U.S. Government Affairs. This position supports the work of Citi’s U.S. Federal Government Relations practice head and 5 team members works, the U.S. State & Local Government Relations, U.S. International Relations and DC policy communications head as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Support practice head and team’s work to identify policy priorities and to build and develop the strategy and tactics for implementing legislative actions.
Identify and communicate federal policy issues through the identification of new legislation, regulation and hearings; triage, with the team’s input, impact to Citi; and track developments.
Identify, analyze, track and summarize factual, data-driven U.S. election and political trends (Federal and state) that can impact Citi. Provide reports to department managers for use in their presentations.
Author executive-level briefing papers, presentations, and reports on policy issues impacting Citi for use by Citi Executives and senior lobbyists meetings with policymakers; ensure all relevant team information is incorporated.
Support the practice head in managing the PAC, including coordinating annual fundraising campaigns (e.g., the development of revenue and giving goals, key performance indicators, and donor education collateral), conducting best practices research, and developing board presentations.
Support the practice head in tracking and reporting team’s annual metrics.
Support the practice head in developing annual goals and success metrics for political engagement meetings with Citi staff. Support periodic Citi site leaders DC fly-in days.
Stay abreast of policy issues that impact Citi.
Depending on experience, may manage a portion of the portfolio.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required
2+ years of experience in policy/government relations either from government, with a corporation, trade association, or other business organization, and/or a private law or government affairs firm.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Able to interact and communicate effectively and comfortably with senior global government affairs managers, colleagues with substantial experience and government officials.
Policy and political insights: Understand the relevance of government action on business decisions. Knowledge of the policy issues and politics that impact the company a plus.

$115,200.00 - $172,800.00
