The Opportunity
As the Biometrics Chapter Lead, you will be a member of the Clinical Operations Chapter Area Leadership Team.
In this position, you will be the leading figure and key point of contact for Roche Diagnostics’ capabilities in clinical biometrics. You will improve the chapter’s overarching expertise based on current and upcoming needs to deliver on network priorities (e.g. upcoming portfolio investments with new technology skills needed).
You will be responsible to excel in developing the capabilities of Chapter members specialized in Clinical Biometrics, including their skills in biostatistics, statistical programming, data management and global regulatory requirements. As a line manager of Chapter members, you will be responsible for designing and optimizing Chapter members’ personal professional journey and coaching your direct reports liaising with the larger Clinical Operations Chapter Area Chapter Leads and other leaders.
You will partner primarily with other Clinical Operations Chapter Area Leads within Clinical Development and Medical Affairs (CDMA). These interactions are intended to support bringing the right capabilities and expertise to the efforts & squads to deliver across Networks’ priorities (who organize around business value). You will play a key role in crafting and implementing key aspects of CDMA’s mid- to long-term strategy and ultimately contribute to the overall Roche Diagnostics Vision.
Leverage a consolidated view of the Chapter’s capabilities to represent the most senior level of specialized expertise in Biometrics towards Business and other Functions
Define the short and long term capability needs for the Chapter to deliver on the Function’s and Network’s strategy, and execute on it, ultimately advancing the Function’s expertise and helping our Customer Areas and LCT’s to achieve their business objectives
Establish and further develop best practices and thought leadership for all aspects pertaining to Biometrics; exemplify the principle of proactive and continuous improvement
Nurture and develop an empowered, knowledgeable, effective and efficient group of subject matter experts (SMEs) within the Chapter with the capabilities to support Roche Diagnostics’ efforts with best-in-class expertise
Work closely with Functional Partner(s) and other Chapter Leads or/and Chapter Area Head to identify and translate strategic direction to capability needs
Model behaviors to support the organization’s transformation to new, more Agile Ways of Working – e.g. new decision making/governance practices, collaboration, translating common goals into 90 day action plans / OKR, etc.
Who you are:
You have an advanced degree in life sciences or a related field. Experience or background in global Clinical Biometrics is a plus.
You have 10+ years of experience in clinical trials in the diagnostics industry or a related field in business related functions
You have solid experience in diagnostics, biotechnology, medical device and/or pharmaceutical clinical research, with oversight of biometrics’ functional operations and strategies.
You have multiple years of experience in addressing clinical trial requests from regulatory agencies.
You are able to travel internationally as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
Deep / broad knowledge in applicable standards and regulations as well as understanding of the in vitro diagnostics industry
Proven ability to lead with creative attitude, very high self-awareness and being a coach and a mentor to other leaders and partners
Demonstrated success in establishing a high performing environment with an excellent reputation attracting the best talent, developing and inspiring them
Able to cultivate positive partnerships through effective influencing, negotiation and conflict management skills
Ability to navigate within an organization with evolving needs, maintaining objectivity, respect for differences of opinion, fairness, open communication and consensus building skills.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Pleasanton, CA is $227,600 - $422,800. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
