As a Software Development Manager at Ring, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers working on important internal services used by Ring and Amazon engineers. The role will manage the development of cloud services that support Ring devices and continue development of the Ring infrastructure. This position involves team management, design, architecture and operation of critical-path cloud services.

Key job responsibilities
Work with internal and external teams to support and develop Ring technology
Own systems development life cycle
Execute against project plans and timely delivery of committed results
Manage day-to-day activities of the engineering teams within an Agile/Scrum environment
Manage departmental resources, staffing, and mentoring
Build, enhance and maintain a best-in-class engineering team
Work closely with engineers to architect and develop technical designs
Report on status of development, quality, operations and system performance to management
Maintain and enhance software frameworks for development
A day in the life
The Cost team SDM works directly with engineering leaders at multiple levels, Ring and SDO's Finance teams, and Ring product management. This is a hands on management role where you are the SME for AWS costs. It's a highly trusted position and you will be asked to consult on AWS architecture best practices, drive cost savings programs, and manage a team that builds cost tools for the organization.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 5+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 5+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 3+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
