Job Summary/Basic Function: Funded by the Department of Homeland Security, Dr. Amra Sabic-El-Rayess is leading a project that will demonstrate how non-inclusive pedagogies and curricula can instigate educational displacement, isolation, and othering. Youth in U.S. schools are well-positioned to prevent hate and violence, build strong social connections, and nurture a culture of acceptance. By fostering peer-to-peer collaboration, utilizing community assets, and leveraging the impact of storytelling, Project Belonging has supported student-led projects that uplift their unique power to connect with their school or local community and make an impact. This project is looking for a Graduate Research Assistant to assist in academic writing for the purpose of drafting research and working papers. The position is dynamic and includes opportunities for growth, leadership, and networking.
Duties and Responsibilities: - In-depth research and review on relevant literature. - Assistance in writing scholarly articles and publications. - Writing formal communication with stakeholders. - Developing, editing, and proofreading original literature and quarterly reports. - Attendance at Internal Team Meetings on a weekly basis. - Other duties as assigned.
Skills Required: - Writing Sample (10-15 pages required with application) - Experience and writing peer reviewed literature. - Creative and out of the box thinker. - self-starter and independent worker - Excellent written, editing, and communication skills. - Excellent written and communication skills. - Strong attention to detail. - Experience and interest in Violence Prevention, K-12 Education, Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-Bias curriculum and training.
Other Information & Compensation: - 15 hrs/week - Student cannot hold another Graduate Research Assistant position simultaneously - This position will earn $5,000 for the Summer 2024 semester + 3 credits (if taking a 6 credit minimum). - To be considered for this position please submit your resume, writing sample, and cover letter by June 1st.
