Job Summary
The Personnel Commission announces a PROMOTIONAL recruitment. This recruitment is only open to current classified employees. Probationary classified employees may apply, but will not be able to be certified for final interview until probationary period is completed. This will result in the establishment of a Promotional list for classified employees who are currently employed by the district in other positions. This list will be used to fill current and future vacancies and will be active for one year or until cancelled. There is currently ONE position open in the Warehouse. This is an 8 hour/day, 12 month position.
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, lead and participate in the daily operation of the district warehouse; perform more responsible duties involved in inventory control, receiving, and/or problem resolution; assist the supervisor in ensuring that work is performed in an accurate, timely and efficient manner; train and provide guidance to assigned personnel.
Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and three years of increasingly responsible warehousing experience, including experience in the supervision of others.
Requirements / Qualifications
Knowledge of
Warehousing and storekeeping methods and techniques, including receiving, storage, inventory control,
delivery of materials, and methods of materials handling.
Warehouse operations, procedures, equipment and terminology.
Proper methods of loading and unloading delivery vehicles.
Business practices related to the purchase, shipment and receipt of goods.
Principles of training and supervision.
Safe working methods and procedures.
Laws and regulations of the Education Code and the district pertaining to assigned area.
Basic math.
Record-keeping techniques.
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
Ability to
Organize, lead, and monitor the work of warehouse personnel; train and instruct warehouse personnel.
Establish priorities and make sound operational decisions.
Review shipments to verify accuracy including quality and quantity.
Plan, schedule, assign and supervise U.S. intra-district mail pick up and deliveries.
Establish and maintain effective storekeeping procedures.
Operate a variety of equipment such as a 2-ton truck with lift gate, step van, forklift, electric and manual pallet
jacks, dollies, scales, and other related equipment.
Maintain records and prepare reports.
Operate a computer and assigned software.
Work independently with little direction.
Observe legal and defensive driving practices.
Meet schedules and timelines.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Understand, interpret and apply rules, regulations, standards and procedures.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Communicate with diverse groups and individuals.
Licenses
Valid California Class C driver’s license.
Current Department of Motor Vehicles safe driving record.
