Job Overview
Under the direction of the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance, the Assistant Director for Compliance assists in coordinating, planning and organizing all phases of a Division I NCAA compliance program for 30 varsity sports, athletics and University staff, representatives of athletics interests and other outside constituencies. This involves education, monitoring and enforcement of University, Big East, Patriot League and NCAA rules and regulations.
As are all coaches and staff members, they are responsible for the integrity of Georgetown’s intercollegiate athletics program and for the reputation of Georgetown University.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to rules education, producing educational newsletter, initial and continuing eligibility certification, official/unofficial visits, National Letter of Intent, Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund, internal reviews, legislative reviews, and continued monitoring of NCAA certification.
- Interact with various campus constituencies and the Georgetown community in implementing an effective compliance program
- Monitor recruiting and playing and practice season documents
- Complete NCAA forms, including but not limited to squad lists and sports sponsorship forms.
- Work with the Athletics Business Office to review expenditures and ensure compliance with NCAA regulations
- Serve as primary department liaison for Housing Office, Admissions Office and Campus Bookstore
- Manage and distribute tasks for two office interns to ensure a mutually beneficial experience
- Assist in managing the NCAA self-reporting and student-athlete reinstatement process and NCAA academic and/or hardship waivers/extensions as needed
- As needed, engage in special projects
- Manage a comprehensive program to ensure compliance with NCAA and other league regulations and policies, including initial and continuing eligibility
- Investigate and report violations, and interpret rules; and educate students, coaches, department and institution administrators, and alumni about rules' implications
- Assist in developing additional compliance programs and policies
- Manage the conduct of audits and reviews to ensure adherence to all policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
- Recommend corrective action as necessary
Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation
The Assistant Director for Compliance reports directly to the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance, and works closely with the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations, and with head and assistant coaches and athletic administrators.
As well, they work with various campus constituencies, including the Office of Student Financial Services, University Registrar, Office of Admissions, Resident Life and the Book Store

Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree – preference for a Master’s degree
- 3 to 5 years of related experience – preference for at least 1 year in NCAA Division I compliance environment and preferably a campus experience
- Demonstrated proficiency with LSDBi, Eligibility Center and Compliance Assistant – preference for experience with compliance software programs - e.g., ARMS, ACS, JumpForward
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualification
- Experience with PowerPoint, Photoshop and Publisher
- Knowledge of University and Department philosophies, policies and regulations
