Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced IT Cybersecurity Engineer and Analyst to join our growing team. Reporting to the Director of Cybersecurity and Networking, the IT Cybersecurity Engineer and Analyst will be part of a team of diverse space professionals to execute Terran Orbital’s approach to managing cyber threats and compliance risk across our hosted and cloud services security stack. At times, the team will serve in a consulting role, ensuring business requirements are met and adhering to industry best security practices. In some cases, we may also fully own security across the product lifecycle and design, build, deploy, and sustain security solutions in these Terran Orbital-unique environments. Hosted Services/Cloud Security oversees related infrastructure, software, and administrative security engineering tasks and consulting on secure solution delivery. You will be part of a team across a wide range of critical priorities and balance sustaining work (to maintain existing security solutions) with project work (to build and evolve capabilities). The team provides technical expertise on projects, handles troubleshooting and escalations, and converges team operations. You will enhance relationships within our organizations, including the Terran Orbital cyber team and Terran Orbital’s Integrated Product Teams. This role requires support across several cross-cutting and product modernization initiatives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, building & implementing a global Security Data Engineering service capability for supporting Cyber Defense Operations.
- Execute projects to patch, upgrade, and extend cybersecurity-related technologies
- Develop, implement, document & maintain controls, standard operating procedures, narratives & test scripts.
- Ensure all hosted services/cloud environments meet best-practice standards for security and functionality.
- Provide administration & support functions for other Cyber Engineering platforms, tooling & services, as needed.
- Perform environment monitoring, verifying the integrity of customer cloud environments.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation.
- Troubleshoot & actively monitor automation platforms & tooling including hardware, operating system, & applications.
- Partner with the Terran Orbital teams and business groups to securely organize and manage cloud account lifecycle, access, security controls, and policies.
- Participate in various meetings and interact with many stakeholders to foster security awareness and a culture of security ownership and accountability
- Work with the team to assist in security risks and mitigation and collaborate with Cyber teams to help identify and drive the creation of relevant security patterns and policies
- Responsible for maintaining and enforcing approved security policies, standards, and guidelines
- Address the procedures affecting the enterprise networks globally
- Analyze and investigate adverse events and incidents using an enterprise security information and event monitoring (SIEM) or from raw logs from firewalls, IDS/IPS, proxies, servers, endpoints, and other network devices
- Collaborate with peers and stakeholders during an investigation of cyber incidents
- Research threat intelligence, vulnerabilities, exploits, and other relevant threat information and trends on various attack vectors / MITRE AT&CK Framework
- Collaborate with Cyber Security teams to develop detection and monitoring alerts and improve cyber defenses based on incidents and threat intelligence
- Perform advanced network and host analysis to include malicious code triage and system incident forensic analysis
- Utilize cyber security tools to actively hunt for threats in the enterprise network
- Ability and willingness to share on-call responsibilities and work non-standard hours as needed
- Occasional travel is required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and 3 years of experience or, in the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
- Programming work experience
- Experience working in a cloud environment – specifically AWS, Azure, or GCP
- 2 years of experience with Linux, Python, [RB1]JS, Database, React, Node, Kubernetes, Docker, AMQP, networking, cloud services
- Knowledge of NIST Cybersecurity Framework
- Thorough understanding of NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, CMMC 2.0 Accreditation, GCCH, and the ITAR/EAR
- Experience with government accreditation requirements
- Experience in evaluating, testing, certification, and accreditation of classified or Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)
- Experience in Cloud Technologies for Security and Compliance (Azure and AWS)
- Experience with Security Best Practices with SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS
- Experience with IDS/IPS, Enterprise Malware, and other Cloud/OnPrem security technologies
- Experience with analysis and evaluation of hardware and software requirements
- Able to apply current system security technologies and IA requirements to maintain a system security posture
- Experience working directly with project developers and subject matter experts to create security documentation
- Experience in quality assurance and editing requirements
- Experience in identifying and resolving compliance issues, documentation, and incident reporting
- DoD 8570 compliant IAM Level I certification, such as the CompTIA Security+ certification. A higher-level certification, such as GSLC, CAP, CASP, CISM, and CISSP, will also be accepted

- Strong ability to effectively communicate in a remote environment, document test work, generate and create effective reporting, and discuss potential findings with both technical and non-technical recipients.

- PKI Certificate Exchange
- Experience in malware triage analysis, sandboxing, and PKI Certificate Exchange
- Active Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain US government TS/SCI clearance

Salary Range $82,000-$140,000
Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
